Front Facade Makeover (DIY)

Our 90s brown brick house was in need of a freshen up. The Australian heritage green, cream (yellow) window finishing, old red pavers and the brown brick was not fun. We gave her a good freshen up.

After

Before

Firstly, we removed all of the old rose bushes, lavender etc out of the garden.

And we planted in some simple, water-wise natives and filled with some black mulch to help it feel fresh.

Next, I transformed the front path and concrete porch.
Here's the before.

I cleaned the front porch concrete, resurfaced it used Dunlop Concrete Resufacer, which wasn't too hard. The colour was far too cool, so I went over with Berger Jet Dry in "Congress" a nice neautral.

I laid down pavers and some Quartzite Pebbles in 14mm. I also painted the timber retaining wall in "Domino" by Dulux. However, I am going to go over it in Black as it is a little blue.

Next, I actually painted the brick in a limewash paint. (I didn't like this so I won't bother showing here, If you want to see it - checkout my instagram highlights @oakbankreno)

We worked with Danny from Acute Render to do our bagged brick. We used "white" render by Raytex. (A South-Australian product). I asked for a "bagged"finish, which essentially means that you see the brick lines through the mortar when finished.

Then, we painted the windows. (goodbye yellow!) check out the blog here on the how-to.

Next, we dug out a bunch of dirt to make a proper entry-way. We made a curve shape which also adds dimension to the front of the yard, as beforehand it was a very wide frontage and it was accentuated by the long straight retaining wall.

After that, I've planted a few more plants in, let the others grow up. Here's the current shape of the front facade.
